It is one of the oldest tenets of human culture that all people are entitled to work and to derive just benefits from that labor. It is through our work and labor that we pursue our ideals, that we build our own “heaven” on earth.

The earliest Biblical stories express this ethos in the first and fourth commandment that God gives to Adam and Eve (see Genesis 1:22 and 3:19). “Replenish” the earth and “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread.”

And yet our current politicians (and those now campaigning for office) are trying to heal our nation while simultaneously robbing and looting from our families and even worse from the poorest among us.

Whether you are religious or not there are real consequences for societies that allow fools to rule over them. Time and history speak the truth whether we like to hear it or not and the end result for foolish leaders and societies is natural and inevitable.

**Matthew 23:13-33 Woe unto you, ‘scribes and Pharisees’, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

**Isaiah 5:20-23 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness;

Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

**Isaiah 3: 5-8And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour:

When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
