September 6   1217 Treaty of Lambeth London England. Negotiations were opened on the 6th September 1217 at Staines, Thames, Surrey, the royal court was being held nearby at Chertsey, Runnymede, Surrey, England. Treaty of Kingston was a peace treaty signed by Prince Louis of France in September 1217 ending the campaign known as the First Barons’ War. The auld alliance between France and Scotland.

1413 Sir James Hamilton, and his next brother, David, obtained letters of safe-conduct, dated 6th September 1413, from King of England Henry the Fourth (descended from Duncan and Malcolm Kings of Scots), to travel into England, as far as the castle of Calthorpe in Lincolnshire. Sir James was one of the hostages for James Stewart King of Scots, (later known as James the First), when the King was allowed to return to Scotland in 1421, and in 1424 Hamilton was one of those who went to London as sureties for their sovereign. www.electricscotland.com

1513 Scottish army had fixed their camp upon a hill called Battle of Flodden Field (1513) which rises to close in, as it were, the extensive flat called Millfield Plain (6 Sept.1513). This eminence slopes steeply towards the plain, and there is an extended piece of level ground on the top, where the Scots might have drawn up their army, and awaited at great [TG24-367] advantage the attack of the English.

Flodden Field in England, is west of the River Till.

Surrey resolved to try whether he could not prevail on the King to abandon it. Surry sent a herald to invite James IV to come down from the height, and join battle in the open plain of Millfield below–reminded him of the readiness with which be had accepted his former challenge — and hinted, that it was the opinion of the English chivalry assembled for battle, that any delay of the encounter would sound to the King’s dishonor. James swallowed the bait, hook, line and sinker.

Thomas Howard, 2nd Duke of Norfolk was given an augmentation of honour to commemorate the Battle of Flodden Field, for killing a King (King of Scots James 4th Stewart).

Flodden Field battle ground is marked by the crossed swords, south and East of the River Tweed, just inside Northumberland England.

1625 – Thomas Dempster, Scottish historian (b. 1579) died. Nephew of Baron of Balquhain was a member of Clan Leslie, a lowland clan (as was Clan Dempster), Thomas’ mother is identified with Jean Leslie. The Leslie’s were supporters of Mary, Queen of Scots Catholic pretender to the throne of England, who was imprisoned (and eventually executed) by Queen Elizabeth I. Mary’s son, the future James 1st of England, was taken away to be raised protestant. These events may or may not have something to do with the later accusations that Thomas was an intelligencer for a young James 1st.

1715 Castletown, in Braemar. The noblemen, chiefs of clans, gentlemen, and others, with such followers as they could immediately get in readiness, assembled at Aboyne for a grand hunting match. The Earl of Mar, acting as Lieutenant General on the occasion, displayed the royal standard, and proclaimed, with such solemnity as the time and place admitted the Chevalier St George, as James King of Scotland, by the title of James VIII of Scots, and King of England, Ireland, and their dependencies,[TG67-270] by that of James III. Gilded ball which was on the top of the standard spear was blown down, – a circumstance which the superstitious Highlanders regarded as ominous of ill fortune ; while others called to mind, that, by a strange coincidence, something of the same kind happened in the evil hour when King Charles I, set up his standard at Nottingham (August 1642). Illinois, John the Revelator recorded in Revelation 20:12—And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.  You will discover in this quotation that the books were opened; and another book was opened, which was the book of life; but the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works; consequently, the books spoken of must be the books which contained the record of their works, and refer to the records which are kept on the earth. And the book which was the book of life is the record which is kept in heaven; the principle agreeing precisely with the doctrine which is commanded you in the revelation.

2014 In our opinion: Proposed Scottish independence doesn’t come without concerns, disruptions.

Britain’s Labour leader Ed Miliband campaigns for the NO vote in the Scottish independence referendum in Blantyre Scotland. For decades, the movement for Scotland’s independence from the United Kingdom was largely ignored as a fringe movement driven by a handful of radical nationalists who were not to be taken seriously. When the referendum on Scottish independence was given a place on the ballot, the conventional wisdom was that this would be an empty exercise, and the majority of common-sense Scots would reject it out of hand. As citizens of a nation born from a hard-fought independence vote, Americans may feel a sort of historical sympathy with those seeking independence from the commonwealth of Great Britain. [True]. And many who haven’t followed this issue closely may find it nothing more than a curiosity that will have little or no effect on their daily lives. [True] Oil revenue is just one area of concern. What would happen to Scotland’s participation in the National Health Service, the use of the British pound as its currency, or dependance on services and facilities funded through U.K. taxes?
