“….come up $58 million short of the $68.5 million cost of relocating the Salt Lake City International Airport TRAX station. Without some blend of financial assistance from Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County or the state, UTA says it will have to build a lesser extension of its light-rail line or make drastic cuts to other transit services, like bus routes. UTA earlier this year sketched out a half-dozen outside funding solutions — including increases to hotel, rental car or gas taxes; the implementation of a parking sales tax; or an influx of onetime state funds — that would allow it to build the preferred TRAX extension without compromising other services.”
