Overstock.com Awards Only Utah Ad Buy to Utah Standard News.

Utah Standard News has become the only Utah media outlet to receive an advertising purchase from online giant Overstock.com. Overstock, based in Cottonwood Heights, launched in 1999 with the mission to be the premier company to sell excess inventory through the Internet. The company quickly became an online leader in a market valued at $60 billion in the United States and has helped their customers save millions of dollars off manufacturers’ recommended retail prices. Overstock employs over 1,500 people and encourages it’s employees to participate in the community and has developed a great esprit de corps from participating in food drives, the Salt Lake Clean Air Challenge, and many other community projects.

In January 2011, Overstock.com acquired the O.co URL and began incorporating it into parts of its brand. The name change was applied to Overstocks international and mobile businesses, the car business, as well as the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California. Overstock.com CEO Dr. Patrick M. Byrne has said, “When we first started our business in 1999, we only sold surplus inventory. We are no longer just an online liquidator. Our current offerings span from furniture and home decor to cars. We want an identity that more accurately reflects our company as it has evolved: hence ‘O.co’. We still carry all of the same products and have award-winning customer service, the same $2.95 or lower national shipping and customized shopping features.”

Ed Wallace, publisher of Utah Standard News, said “We are honored that Overstock found value in advertising with us. They looked at our demographics, our archives, and were thrilled with our coverage and ad rates.”

Utah Standard News is based in Saint George, Utah, and has over 61,000 readers in 135 Utah communities, every state and over 130 countries. “This is what sets us apart from other media outlets”, said Wallace, “We fit into Overstock’s worldwide customer base and our site is state-of-the-art. We focus on news and issues that many other news organizations shy away from. I think this is why we’ve grown so fast. People are hungry for the truth and know when they’re being spun and deceived. For some reason, the highly certified ‘fake news’ media has a problem telling the truth. We don’t. We respect our readers and are fearless in our defense of the values and standards that America and Utah were built on”.

Overstock bases their ad campaign success on USN click-troughs to purchases. Everyone buy things. If our readers appreciate and support what we’re doing, I appeal to them to click on an Overstock ad and buy directly from our site at utahstandardnews.com.”

Utah Standard News has received other accolades, including:

“What a great site.”

“180 degrees removed from the rest of the news.”

“The only Utah news source with any substance.”

“Comparable to the Wall Street Journal.”

“I’ve never seen a site with so much information.”

“A gold mine of Satire.”
