The reforming doctrines had now obtained a firm hold on the young abbot, and he was eager to communicate them to his fellow-countrymen. 1918 Salt Lake City, Utah. President Joseph F. Smith received a vision concerning the Savior’s visit to the spirits of the dead while his body was in the tomb. (Clans Huntley, Hamilton, Mackenzie, Mack of Inverness, Malcolm King of Scots.) I read “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:  “By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; “Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.” (1 Peter 3:18–20.) “For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” (1 Peter 4:6.)  And I wondered at the words of Peter—wherein he said that the Son of God preached unto the spirits in prison, *** —and how it was possible for him to preach to those spirits and perform the necessary labor among them in so short a time. And as I wondered, my eyes were opened, and my understanding quickened, and I perceived that the Lord went not in person among the wicked and the disobedient who had rejected the truth, to teach them;  But behold, from among the righteous, he organized his forces and appointed messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to fall the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead. Among the great and mighty ones who were assembled in this vast congregation of the righteous were Father Adam, the Ancient of Days and father of all,  And our glorious Mother Eve, with many of her faithful daughters who had lived through the ages and worshiped the true and living God. Abel, the first martyr, was there, and his brother Seth, one of the mighty ones, who was in the express image of his father, Adam. Noah, who gave warning of the flood; Shem, the great high priest; (all ancestors of the Scots) Abraham, the father of the faithful; Isaac, Jacob, and Moses, the great law-giver of Israel; And Isaiah, who declared by prophecy that the Redeemer was anointed to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that were bound, were also there. Moreover, Ezekiel, who was shown in vision the great valley of dry bones, which were to be clothed upon with flesh, to come forth again in the resurrection of the dead, living souls;  Daniel, who foresaw and foretold the establishment of the kingdom of God in the latter days, never again to be destroyed nor given to other people; Elias, who was with Moses on the Mount of Transfiguration; And Malachi, the prophet who testified of the coming of Elijah—of whom also Moroni spake to the Prophet Joseph Smith, declaring that he should come before the ushering in of the great and dreadful day of the Lord—were also there. The Prophet Elijah was to plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to their fathers. All these and many more, even the prophets who dwelt among the Nephites and testified of the coming of the Son of God, mingled in the vast assembly and waited for their deliverance,’

Records a revelation on the redemption of the dead as dictated by his father, who is the President of the Church at the time. Joseph Fielding Smith, 10th President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Descended from Mack of Inverness (clans Huntley, Hamilton, Mackenzie, Mack ), Scotland and Malcolm King of Scots.

1938 London. The Commons discussed the Munich Agreement on 3 October. Though former First Lord of the Admiralty Duff Cooper explained his resignation in protest of gutting Czechoslokia and Churchill objected, no Conservative voted against Chamberlain’s government. Fewer than 30 abstained, including Churchill, Eden, Cooper and Harold Macmillan. Churchill told the Commons, “England has been offered a choice between war and shame. She has chosen shame, and will get war.’’ www.naval-history.net

1940 The “Civilian Committee for Protection of Homes. – American Committee for Defense of British Homes in 1940, sent an urgent appeal — in American Rifleman — for Americans to send “Pistols – Rifles – Revolvers – Shotguns – Binoculars” because “British civilians, faced with the threat of invasion, desperately need arms for the defense of their homes.” Thousands of arms were collected and sent to England, one of which was a .30-’06 Model 1903 target rifle owned by Major John W. Hession. Hession was one of the pre-eminent high power rifle target shooters of his day, and he used that rifle to win Olympic gold at Bisley Camp in England in 1908. The rifle, unlike the majority sent, was returned and can now be viewed in the national Firearms Museum.

2012 Humor

A young Scot lad and lass were sitting on a low stone wall, holding hands, gazing out over the loch. For several minutes they sat silently.
Then, finally Grizel said, “A penny for yer thoughts, MacPherson.”
”Aye, Ah was thinkin’…perhaps it’s aboot time for a wee kiss.”
Grizel blushed, leaned and kissed him lightly on the cheek.
Then MacPherson blushed. The two turned once again to gaze out over the loch.
Minutes passed and Grizel spoke again. “Another penny for yer thoughts, MacPherson.” “Aye, Ah was thinkin’ perhaps it’s noo aboot time for a wee cuddle.” Grizel blushed, then cuddled him for a few seconds.
Then MacPherson blushed. The two turned once again to gaze out over the loch.
After a while, she said, “Another penny for yer thoughts, MacPherson.’’ ‘’Aye, Ah was thinkin’ perhaps it’s aboot time ye let me put me hand
on yer leg.” She blushed, then took his hand and put it on her knee. Then he blushed. The two gazed out over the loch before she spoke again.
” Another penny for yer thoughts, MacPherson?”
He glanced down with a furled brow. “Well, noo,” he said, “me thoughts are a wee bit more serious this time.”
”Really?” said the lass in a whisper, filled with anticipation.
 “Aye,” said MacPherson, nodding.
The girl looked in shyness, began to blush, and bit her lip in anticipation.
Then he said, “Dae ye nae think it’s aboot time ye paid me the first
three pennies?” http://www.scotlandvacations.com/scottishhumour.htm
