The attached 1st pedigree lists a Scot, Malcolm MacLeod [GMB3-28F] as the 13th great grandson of a Scot William Sinclair [LCCN-H49].  Earl Sinclair was Lord High Chancellor of Scotland between 1454 and 1458 AD. The Lord High Chancellor  was a peer and the principal Great Officer of State, the presiding officer of the Parliament of Scotland, the Keeper of the Great Seal, presiding officer of the Privy Council, and a judge of the College of Justice.  Sinclair’s other titles were 3rd Earl of Orkney (last), 1st Earl of Caithness, 2nd Lord Sinclair, 11th Baron of Roslin.

This week the King and Queen of the Netherlands are visiting their American Cousins in Florida.

            Since the records go back many centuries, many of the names have had whole books of biographies recording their stories. Many English biographies  are featured in the Dictionary of National Biography. The seven character code in brackets [ ]  after a person’s name is the code to find them in FamilySearch.org.  The country is Nederland and the people are Dutch.

            Kingdom of the Netherlands, at 16,041 square miles is the size of Massachusetts and Connecticut, or Denmark, and faces the North sea on the west. Denmark Is a peninsula and islands in the Baltic Sea on the east, and the North Sea to the west. Netherlands borders Germany on the South and west, and Belgium to the south. The Dutch Republic was declared in the 16th century and then passed through various kings and empires until a kingdom of the Netherlands was recognized after the Napoleon wars in the beginning of the 19th century. Wars continued for centuries.  In the meantime, Dutch trade and discovery reached into the East Indies, and established the United East India Company, which survived in various forms until the Japanese conquests of World War Two. The WW2  loss of the rubber plantations to Japan resulted in the United States rationing gasoline during World War Two to conserve rubber for tires. Dutch East Indies became Indonesia. The Netherlands was a founder and  joined NATO in 1949.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands dates from 16 March 1815, when rule was awarded to the son of William V, the last stadholder of the Dutch Republic. The son, William Frederick, Prince of Orange and Nassau, adopted the style of William 1, king of the Netherlands, which was a member state of the German Confederation, which confederation ended in 1867.  Because of the Nazi invasion, the Dutch government relocated to London in exile. The 1941 Atlantic Charter was joined by Netherlands, in a speech by Queen Wilhelmina, in behalf of the government in exile.

As of 2013, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are the monarchs. The children are The Princess of Orange Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia, Princess Ariane. Other relations are Prince Constantijn, Princess Laurentien, Princess Margriet.

King Wilhem-Alexander’s Parents are Princess Beatrix and Prince Clause.

Queen Maxima’s Parents are Jorge Zorreguieta LB6S-ZT3  and Maria del Carmen Cerruti Carricart P3S2-RGT.

Malcolm’s great grand daughter  Tiffany Trump is 17th cousin to Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Kai Madison Trump is 18th cousin to  William Alexander, King of the Netherlands.
