1544 Battle of Serravalle (1544). at Serravalle, in the Apennine Mountains, San Marino, between the Spanish-Imperial army commanded by Don Alfonso d’Avalos, Marquis del Vasto, and a force of freshly raised Italian mercenaries in French service, led by Pietro Strozzi, member of the rich and famous Florentine family of the Strozzi, and Giovan Francesco Orsini, Count of Pitigliano, during the Italian War of 1542–1546. pitting Francis I of France and Suleiman I of the Ottoman Empire against the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V and Henry VIII of England. Scotland, an ally of France, would be lead to defeat at the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh 10 September 1547. Henry 8th was now faced with the potential of French interference in Scotland, where he was entangled in the midst of an attempt to marry his infant son Edward to Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots, his grand niece. By December 31, 1543 a treaty pledged a campaign. The campaign could not begin, however, until Henry and Charles had resolved their personal conflicts with Scotland and the German princes, respectively. On 15 May 1544, Henry was informed by the Edward Seymour, Earl of Hertford, that, after his raids, Scotland was no longer in a position to threaten him. By October 9, 1544, Peace talks were attempted. Henry 8th refused to consider returning Boulogne, and insisted that Francis abandon his support of the Scots. On 31 May 1545, a French expeditionary force landed in Scotland intending an assault on England. On 7 June 1546, the Treaty of Ardres—also known as the Treaty of Camp—was signed. During the treaty negotiations, two Protestant mediators—Han Bruno of Metz and Johannes Sturm—were concerned that Henry’s war in Scotland was a stumbling block. The sixteenth article of the treaty made Scotland a party to the new peace, and Henry pledged not to attack the Scots again without cause. This gave Scotland a respite from the War of the Rough Wooing, but the fighting would recommence 18 months later. Henry VIII died on 28 January 1547; on 31 March, Francis died. Henry’s successors continued his entanglements in Scotland. When, in 1548, friction with the Scots led to the resumption of hostilities around Boulogne, England’s regent decided to avoid a two-front war by returning the city four years early, in 1550. The French fleet attacks the Isle of Wight.

1640 the parliament by the kings orders is prorogued to the 2d of June 1640, Traquair did all he could to stop them that they might have nothing done, whereupon they agreed to send up the earls of Dunfermline and [John Campbell Earl of] Loudon to implore his majesty [Charles] to allow the parliament to proceed, and to determine what was before them, &c. But ere these two lords had reached the court, orders were sent them discharging them in the king’s name, from coming within a mile of him, on supposition they had no express warrant from the lord commissioner; and they were returned home. P.265   [John Campbell Earl of] Loudon (being present) did most solidly explain the act of the general assembly, 1580, which condemned the office of bishops in the most express terms, prior to the subscription of the national covenant, and because of a difficulty raised from these words in that act, viz. (as it was then used) his lordship observed that in the assemblies 1560, 1575, 1576, 1577, and 1578, episcopacy came still under consideration, though not directly as to the office, yet as to the corruption, &c. and having enlarged upon the office of bishops as without a warrant from the word of God, he concludes—”As we have said, so that the connection between the assemblies of 1574, and of 1581, is quite clear; episcopacy is put out as wanting warrant from the word of God, and presbytery put in, as having that divine warrant; and was accordingly sworn unto.” P. 266 Biographia Scoticana: OR, A

2016 .” Jake Novak CNBC. I was wrong: Trump WILL be the next president. Trump, a supposed political neophyte, seems to understand the Republican base better than party leaders. As someone who had never run for office before, Trump already had the best chance to run away from that party title and shrinking base to create a new coalition of voters. But he had another advantage I missed in this area: his bluntness. And by grabbing hold of a populist pro-blue collar message, Trump has been actively going after the white vote.  The second biggest mistake I made about Trump is something else the CNBC audience should appreciate: I didn’t think his incredible abilities and experience at self-promotion would translate very well from the business and entertainment media world to the political arena. But I forgot that Trump has been a master business marketer for decades and has also been working closely with some of the best writers in reality TV for more than 15 years. And probably the best talent those writers have is making events and comments sound truly off the cuff and natural even when they are really completely planned and strategically weighed. I don’t think Trump has said one thing or sent out even one tweet during this campaign that didn’t sound like something he truly believed and would naturally say or write. Even if you’ve hated 100 percent of the things Trump has said and written, it’s important to understand that Trump has won a crucial marketing and persuasive victory simply by convincing you that what he’s saying and writing is his genuine voice and authentic personality. It’s called building a clear and identifiable brand. If you’re the person who sees Trump’s personality/brand and have decided you hate everything about it, I have news for you: You’re not the target audience. We all know Trump’s key slogan/promise is “Make America Great Again.” I’m still not sure what Hillary Clinton’s key slogan/promise is and I follow her campaign very closely. Is it “I’m with Her?” Clinton’s Twitter feed and website are helping Trump immensely as they seem to pump out phrases like “a Trump presidency,” and “President Trump” more often than Trump does himself. These kinds of messages present and reinforce the idea of an actual President Trump in our subconscious brains. This is why the old TV commercials for consumer products when we were growing up used to avoid naming competing products as anything other than “brand x.” Jake Novak CNBC Trump’s mother was born in Scotland. Trump has golf courses in Scotland.
