1306 Battle of Dalry, The Battle of Dalrigh, the Battle of Dail Righ or Battle of Strathfillan, was fought in the summer of 1306 between the army of King Robert I of Scotland and the MacDougalls of Argyll, allies of Clan Comyn the English.

1896 William Cameron Menzies (July 29, 1896 – March 5, 1957) was an American film production designer (a job title he invented)[1] and art director. The Scots pronounced the name ‘Min-gus’, as mentioned in the movie Floating castle (1953). rather than ‘min-zees’ as on TCM Menzies (Mingus) was born in New Haven, Connecticut to Scots immigrant parents, Charles A. and Helen originally from Aberfeldy, Scotland. 1953 November 11. Commemorative 3 cent Stamp for Veteran’s day 1953. “Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.” was a graduate of West Point who saw service in the tank corps in France in the Great War. Patton wore (among other things) ivory -handled Colt 45 caliber pistols and proposed armored weapons and mobile tactics. During World War II, Patton was in the 1942 invasion of North Africa and in the 1943 invasion of Sicily. According to Patton’s biographer, Martin Blumenson, a Robert (surname unknown) left Scotland for unknown reaso Robert married the daughter of Hugh Mercer, surgeon general to General Washington. ns.
