1830 Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Harmony, Pennsylvania,. (clan Mack of Inverness, Malcolm King of Scots), Doctrine and Covenants 25. Some days in July. For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me.

1909 JOHN NICHOLSON 13 July 1839 – 26 January 1909. while in his native land, Scotland, he saw a big brutal fellow beating a relatively small man. The sympathetic heart of John was touched; and he ordered the bully to cease his unwarranted attack, whereupon he turned on John; and but for the agility of the courageous youth, he would have been knocked to the ground by a terrific blow that barely missed its mark. Young Nicholson was an expert wrestler and at this critical moment he seized his opponent, who was much larger than himself, and threw him violently to the ground. A second time the bully came at him intending to lay him low with a vicious kick from a heavy hobnailed brogan; but again the youth eluded the blow and with the speed of a lion he seized his opponent and threw him with such force that his head struck the hard earth, rendering him momentarily unconscious. As young Nicholson left the scene of the encounter he saw the pugilist arise and rub his bruised head, and the dazed and bewildered look in his eyes bore witness that he was whipped. As a missionary in the Sheffield Conference, England, a mob approached the meetinghouse in which Elder Nicholson was holding a meeting and began smashing windows with stones. He marched boldly toward them and when within speaking distance, he told them they were a pack of cowards and should be ashamed of themselves. Impressed by his fearlessness, they dropped their rocks and retreated in the distance.

John Nicholson was a native of Scotland, having been born at St. Boswell, Roxbury, July 13, 1830. His parents were John and Elizabeth Hewison Nicholson. On April 8, 1861, he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder Robert Hogg.

1843 Nauvoo, Illinois. Joseph Smith the Prophet (clan Mack of Inverness, Malcolm King of Scots). Verily, thus saith the Lord, I say unto you, that the conditions of this law are these: All covenants, contracts, bonds, obligations, oaths, vows, performances, connections, associations, or expectations, that are not made and entered into and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, of him who is anointed, both as well for time and for all eternity, and that too most holy, by revelation and commandment through the medium of mine anointed, whom I have appointed on the earth to hold this power (and I have appointed unto my servant Joseph to hold this power in the last days, and there is never but one on the earth at a time on whom this power and the keys of this priesthood are conferred), are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection from the dead; for all contracts that are not made unto this end have an end when men are dead. And everything that is in the world, whether it be ordained of men, by thrones, or principalities, or powers, or things of name, whatsoever they may be, that are not by me or by my word, saith the Lord, shall be thrown down, and shall not remain after men are dead, neither in nor after the resurrection, saith the Lord your God.   Doctrine and Covenants 132. Nauvoo Visitors Center, model of the Temple, revealed by Joseph Smith Junior.
