Standardized tests are the soul-sucking leeches of our public education system.
There. I said it. And that was the nice version
.Seriously, I hated standardized testing when I was in school and I hate it even more now (I’m dreading the day I have my own children in school and I have to send them off to deal with this crap). I once had the inclination to become a teacher, but once I found out just how much standardized testing kids have to do and how much classroom time I would have to devote to teaching students to take a bubble-sheet test and not teaching them anything that might actually be useful to them in life – I bailed. I know there are others who are up to the challenge of of educating young minds in spite of our government education system and I salute them most heartily – but I’m just not one of those people.
