These discussions commemorate the passing of Professor Stephen William Hawking, age 76, on ‘pi day’ 2018, late of Cambridge, England. They are extracts of a letter sent in 2003 to the Professor reviewing portions of his book, A Brief History of Time.

Professor Hawking,

You observe (p. 134) imaginary numbers. The letter “i” stands for such imaginary numbers in the equations, [such as i^2 [1]=[-1], (2i)^2=[-4], (3i)^2=[-9], &c.] If we can have imaginary numbers, why not imaginary time? For instance, we assume that traveling faster slows time down. Thus, if a person lived at the earth’s equator, which turns about 1,000 miles an hour, called upon a person living on the north pole, which turns only a few feet per day, if at all, what would they say? Can we imagine the person at the equator living a slower time, even losing time?

After many many years, it must at least be yesterday on the equator, because the person at the equator has traveled so much farther than the polar person. One or the other would live in an imaginary time. An imaginary slowing, because of extra speed at the pole. Perhaps it could be quantified, that is, as light travels 186*10^3 miles per second, the equator traveler would cover that distance every 186 hours. The equator traveler should be a second behind the polar traveler every 7 3/4ths days, or 4 seconds every 31 day month. In a year and three months, that would be 60 seconds of imaginary time that was slowed down. 15 years would be 15 minutes, a quarter of an hour. It would take 1,440 years to lose a day of imaginary time, back about the time of Mohammed and the founding of Islam. Of course until recently no one lived at the North Pole to take advantage of imaginary time (i.e. live faster). The U.S. has maintained South Pole presence for two generation. What applies to the North pole should apply to the South Pole.

142nd RECKONING TIME BEFORE ABSOLUTE TIME

     You observe (p. 142) that people believed in absolute time, at least into the Twentieth century. However, much earlier, circa 1956 B.C. Abraham, the prophet, described Kolob and multiple times for reckoning.

Abraham 3:5. And the Lord said unto me: The planet which is the lesser light, lesser than that which is to rule the day, even the night, is above or greater than that upon which thou standest in point of reckoning, for it moveth in order more slow; this is in order because it standeth above the earth upon which thou standest, therefore the reckoning of its time is not so many as to its number of days, and of months, and of years.

3:6. And the Lord said unto me: Now, Abraham, these two facts exist, behold thine eyes see it; it is given unto thee to know the times of reckoning, and the set time, yea, the set time of the earth upon which thou standest, and the set time of the greater light which is set to rule the day, and the set time of the lesser light which is set to rule the night. 7. Now the set time of the lesser light is a longer time as to its reckoning than the reckoning of the time of the earth upon which thou standest. 8. And where these two facts exist, there shall be another fact above them, that is, there shall be another planet, whose reckoning of time shall be longer still; 9.And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time, which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest. 10. And it is given unto thee to know the set time of all the stars that are set to give light, until thou come near unto the throne of God. . . 13. And he said unto me: Kokaubeam, which signifies stars, or all the great lights, which were in the firmament of heaven . . . . 16. If two things exist, and there be one above the other, there shall be greater things above them, therefore Kolob is the greatest of all the Kokaubeam that thou hast seen, because it is nearest unto me. 17. Now, if there be two things, one above the other, and the moon be above the earth, then it may be that a planet or a star may exist above it; and there is nothing that the Lord thy God shall take in his heart to do but what he will do it. 18. Howbeit that he made the greater star; as, also, if there be two spirits, and one shall be more intelligent than the other, yet these two spirits, notwithstanding one is more intelligent than the other, have no beginning; they existed before, they shall have no end, they shall exist after, for they are gnolaum, or eternal. 19. And the Lord said unto me: These two facts do exist, that there are two spirits, one being more intelligent than the other; there shall be another more intelligent than they; I am the Lord thy God, I am more intelligent than they all. ELECTROMAGNETIC FREQUENCIES INDEPENDENT OF MASS

     I gather, you explain that Velocity equals (and is proportional to) Distance divided by time (V=D/T)l.

Velocity = Distance/ time

Or

One = D/V*T = One = V*T/D = One

Therefore, Time equals Distance over velocity (T=D/V), and Distance is velocity multiplied by Time (D=V*T), [and One equals Distance divided by velocity multiplied by time (1=D/V*T) or velocity multiplied by time divided by distance (1=V*T/D) so that

1=D/V*T=V*T/D]

     Is it correct that matter exists in all energy levels (to wit: energy levels are measured by heat, or speed, or location)? Also, that electro magnetic energy levels exist in different spectrums, (to wit: energy levels are measured by frequency)?

Also, that different spectrums co-exist in electro magnetic radiation, (to wit: radio, TV, micro wave, infra red, light, and ultra violet radiation frequencies coexist in the same time-space)? Also, that spectrum frequencies may interfere with one another, (to wit: radio frequencies broadcast on the same channel from two separated locations, arriving at the location point of overlap, will be interrupted, and may be sufficiently changed and ruined, so as to be useless, which change is called interference.)? Also, time exists [at least for mankind].

If electro magnetic radiation both co-exist and interfere, then, why couldn’t time either co-exist or interfere?

Or, if radio waves can be broadcast (generated) and received simultaneously on multiple frequencies, co-existing very nicely, why cannot time be generated and received simultaneously, co-existing or interfering?

I suggest, that as compared to our understanding, such a one who could tune multiple bands (to wit: frequencies) in time, would hold the order of priesthood of Godhood.

189th page ELECTROMAGNETIC FREQUENCIES INDEPENDENT OF MASS

I am told space travelers observe no gravity, even though their mass is constant. Hence they appear to float, only because they are moving fast enough to create an equilibrium between their speed (acceleration) and gravitational attraction. The moon has a mass one sixth of the earth, so space travelers on the moon, their mass being constant, appear to themselves to weigh one sixth of their earth weight. But what of the energy levels on the moon, i.e. is the frequency of the broadcast increased, the same, or decreased, by the gravitation of the moon, as compared to the earth? I don’t recall any adjustments in frequency needed when the Apollo crews broadcast signals from the moon to the earth. If so, the frequencies sent from and to earth and moon’ appear to be the same, and therefore frequencies are independent of mass! Then where is the gravitational based red shift of the frequency? Or, is the length of time of a broadcast from earth to moon (1.3 seconds), too short, or the mass of the bodies, too small to discern the red shift based on gravity?

Do any celestial bodies approach even 5% of the speed of light? (i.e. 9.3*10^3 miles/second equals 3.3*10^7 miles per hour).

Professor Hawking’s mother was Scottish. His grandfather was James Walker born Glasgow and son of Archibald Walker Jr. and Janet Audrey Margaret Morris. Archibald was the son of Archibald Walker Sr. and Isobel McIntyre Ewing. Janet was the daughter of William John Morris and Margaret McGregor.

Hawking’s mother’s mother was Elisabeth Agnes “Nancy” Stevenson Law, born Glasgow, and daughter of Andrew Law and Agnes Stevenson. Agnes was the daughter of Robert Stevenson who was married 6 August 1852 in Melrose, Roxburgh, Scotland to Isabella Hyslop.
