Fatal accident near the gorge closes Northbound I-15 for about 2 hours.
Just before 5 o’clock this morning, Arizona Highway Patrol received a call of an southbound driver driving in the northbound lanes, and about 2 minutes later a call came in of a head on collision involving that wrong way driver about 6 miles south of the border. The driver going the wrong direction was unrestrained and died at the scene of the accident. The other car had two passengers and the driver. All properly restrained. The passengers received minor injuries but the driver had severe injuries to her chest and was flown to DRMC. Officials haven’t said why the car was traveling in the wrong lane and are awaiting toxicologically results.
