Correct, UV radiation denatures the proteins in virus, microbes, bacteria, depending on the distance and length of time of exposure. This was what ‘airing’ the bedding meant to our great grandparents, put the sheets and blankets in the sun, which has UV. UV only works with line of sight, so anything shaded from the UV lights is not treated. UV lights are the ‘black lights’ or ‘party lights’ which glow cotton, but not wool, in the dark. The light bulbs cost $5-$7 each, and you can put them in each room of your house, turning them on when no one is in the room, and off when people are there. That’s it. No fluid chemicals, no toxic chemicals, no traps. UV will kill air born microbes floating on dust in sight of the light. Go for it. It really is that safe, effective and easy. Just because you don’t hear about it in the general news, it is good to go. Do a little research and you’ll say ‘why not?’
