As a last act, according to news reports, the last of Trump nominees were approved December 11, 2018, about 3 weeks before the end of the term. Senator Jeff Flake from Arizona blocked about 150 nominees awaiting Senate approval, about half had been approved by the Judiciary committee. Flake, single handedly, working together with the Democratic Senators, refused to proceed with the nominees. Flake’s Arizona term expired in January 2019. Two years into the Republican Presidency, hundreds, if not thousands of Republican appointments have not made it thru the Senate. The result is the appointments or acting appointments are holdovers from the previous Democrat administration.
