August 7 1189 Sometime in August Isabel de Clare 4th Countess of Pembroke married William Marshal. Isabel was born in 1172 in Ireland, the eldest child of Richard de Clare, 2nd Earl of Pembroke (1130 – 20 April 1176), known to history as “Strongbow”, and Aoife of Leinster, who was the daughter of Dermot MacMurrough, the deposed King of Leinster and Mor Ui Thuathail. The latter was a daughter of Muitchertach O’Toole and Cacht Inion Loigsig O’Morda. The marriage of Strongbow and Aoife took place in August 1170, the day after the capture of Waterford by the Cambro-Norman forces led by Strongbow. Isabel’s paternal grandparent.

1328 River Wear, northeast England, the Scots camp, under Bruce, opposite the English army with Edward 2nd. Scots retreat through an impassable morass to gain miles from the English army, which are unaware of the retreat. (Similar to Washington’s retreat from Long Island New York in 1776). 1540 sometime in, James V ordered the Edinburgh goldsmith John Mosman to refashion the Crown of Scotland.

1899 Church minutes from a priesthood meeting held in Glasgow, dated 7 August 1899, reveal this reversal in emphasis and direction to the Saints. President Platte D. Lyman (a member of the European Church Presidency) “Instructed the Elders not to hurry the Saints to Zion, nor praise it up, saying it was better than Scotland rather try to prevent them from going telling them that the Lord will look after them in this Country, then after they are determined to go, tell them of the hardships, there [they] are liable to have to endure.” Glasgow is on the River Clyde.  Glasgow was the location for the foundry, in 1828,  which made the Scotch lead type which went across the Atlantic to New York City, up the Hudson River to  the Erie canal, across to Palmyra New York and the E.B. Grandin Print shop for printing of the first edition of The Book of Mormon.

1942 Gary Edward “Garrison” Keillor (born August 7, 1942) is an American storyteller, humorist, and radio personality. Scots ancestry. A Prairie Home Companion. A Prairie Home Companion debuted as an old-style variety show before a live audience on July 6, 1974, featuring guest musicians and a cadre cast doing musical numbers and comic skits replete with elaborate live sound effects.

The show was punctuated by spoof commercial spots from such fictitious sponsors as Jack’s Auto Repair (“All tracks lead to Jack’s where the bright shining lights show ye the way to complete satisfaction”) and Powdermilk Biscuits, which “give shy persons the strength to get up and do what needs to be done.”

Later imaginary sponsors have included Ralph’s Pretty Good Grocery (“If ye can’t find it at Ralph’s, ye can probably get along without it”), Bertha’s Kitty Boutique, the Ketchup Advisory Board (which touted “the natural mellowing agents of ketchup”), the American Duct Tape Council, and Bebop-A-Reebop Rhubarb Pie (“sweetening the sour taste of failure through the generations”).

In April 2000, he took the programme to Edinburgh, Scotland and gave two performances in the city’s Queen’s Hall. These were broadcast by BBC Radio on 1 and 8 April. He also toured Scotland with the program to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Henry 2nd, Richard’s father, obtained control of Scotland. But, Richard needed money for the Crusades, so Richard allowed the Scots to buy their independence back, which independence would last 7 centuries.
