Ironhead was godparent at the baptism of Charles James (later James 6th Stewart of Scotland, James 1st of England) on December 17, 1566 at Stirling castle. Following his uncle’s, Henry I of Portugal, death (31 January 1580) Emmanuel Philibert fought to impose his rights as a claimant to the Portuguese throne. Filiberto had Charles Emmanuel 1 the Great Duke of Savoy (1580 to 1630). The Duchy was created in 1416 following Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, awarding the title Duke to Count Amadeus VIII. The territory of the Duchy then included Moriana, the Valle d’Aosta, and Piedmont. 1715 – George 1st King of Great Britain- The Clan Act, enacted, 1. That if a feudal superior went into rebellion, and became liable to the pains of high treason, all such vassals holding lands under him, as should continue in their allegiance, should in future hold these lands of the Crown. 2. If a tenant should have remained at the King’s peace while his landlord had been engaged in rebellion, and convicted of treason, the space of two years gratuitous possession should be added to that tenant’s lease. 3. If the superior should remain loyal and peaceful while the vassal should engage in rebellion, and incur conviction of high treason, then the fief, or lands held by such vassal, shall revert to the superior as if they had never been separated from his estate. 4. Another clause [TG66-263] declared void such settlements of estates and deeds of entail as might be made on the 1st day of August, 1714, or at any time thereafter, declaring that they should be no bar to the forfeiture of the estates for high treason, seeing that such settlements had been frequently resorted to for the sole purpose of evading the punishment of the law. Clause, empowering the crown to call upon any suspected person or persons in Scotland to appear at, Edinburgh, or where it should be judged expedient, for the purpose of finding bail, with certification that their failure to appear should subject them to be put to the horn as rebels, and that they should incur the forfeiture of the liferent escheat. Immediately afterwards, summonses were issued to all the noblemen and gentlemen either actually in arms, or suspected of favouring the Jacobite interest, from the Earl of Mar and his compeers, down to [TG66-264] Rob Roy MacGregor, the celebrated outlaw.

[Because all Scottish land was held in feudal tenure, no one except the king, owned their land in fee simple. Contrast that to the colonies, wherein after paying off the grant, farmers became owners. An entail was a limitation on ownership by how the property could be owned or inherited, such as only by the son, or by heirs of the body.]

2005 Gulf Coast. Hurricane Katrina made its third landfall near the Louisiana–Mississippi border with 120 mph (190 km/h) sustained winds, still at Category 3 intensity. Katrina maintained strength well into Mississippi, finally losing hurricane strength more than 150 miles (240 km) inland near Meridian, Mississippi. Although buses that later flooded were available to transport those dependent upon public transportation, not enough bus drivers were available to drive them as Governor Blanco [Democrat] did not sign an emergency waiver to allow any licensed driver to transport evacuees on school buses. Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, decided to take over the federal, state, and local operations officially on August 30, 2005, citing the National Response Plan. This was refused by [Louisiana] Governor Blanco [Democrat] who indicated that her National Guard could manage. Wikipedia. How did that work for you Governor Blanco?
