1291 Edward I of England, Longshanks, summoned the nobility and clergy of Scotland to meet him at the castle of Norham, a large and strong fortress, which stands on the English side of the Tweed river, which divides England from Scotland. (TG6-69) – Edward is Ancestor of all Scots royalty from Joan Beauford and James 1st Stewart of Scots.

1547 – Douglas and Cockburn (in 1814 Admiral Adam Cockburn witnesses the Battle of Fort McHenry, Baltimore Maryland USA) suggested to Knox (their tutor) to take their sons to the relative safety of the castle to continue their instruction in the reformed doctrine. Knox arrived at the castle of St Andrews.

1606 – The Charter of the Virginia Company of London is established by royal charter by James (1st of England, 6th of Scotland) with the purpose of establishing colonial settlements in North America.

1607 to 1641 circa. The Act of Uniformity, the Test Acts and Penal Laws of England, Ireland and Scotland were, according to Edmund Burke “a machine of wise and elaborate contrivance, as well fitted for the oppression, impoverishment and degradation of a people, and the debasement in them of human nature itself, as ever proceeded from the perverted ingenuity of man.” Savage, John (1869). 1710 – The Statute of Anne (Stewart clan), the first law regulating copyright, enters into force in Great Britain.

1775 Middlesex County Massachusetts. Gun control by the English who have a secret plan to disarm the colonials, by confiscating the Colonials personal pistols and muskets. It is not about crime, but power. Across the ocean from Scotland, hundreds of thousands of Scots and their descendants are scattered 2,000 miles up and down the Atlantic coast of the colonies, many having been forced by the Highland Clearances. The English occupied Boston 3 years earlier and have identified different caches of colonial arms, particularly those at Lexington and Concord. Gun control will cause the spark for the American Revolution.

Jim Bowie was inducted posthumously into the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame at the 1988 Blade Show in Atlanta, Georgia, in recognition of the impact that his eponymous design made upon generations of knife makers and cutlery companies. The surname Bowie is rendered in Scottish Gaelic as Buidheach (masculine).

1816 The Year Without a Summer, 1816, 65,000 die in United Kingdom- Famine and typhoid fever in Ireland and food riots in England and France. (also known as the Poverty Year, Year There Was No Summer, and Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death ) Crop failure forces Joseph Smith Senior to abandon Vermont and move to New York. Severe summer climate abnormalities caused average global temperatures to decrease by about 0.4–0.7 °C (0.7–1.3 °F), Speculation blamed the frost on Volcanic ash, unwitnessed destruction of a volcano in the South Pacific. Who knows?

Resulting in major food shortages across the Northern Hemisphere. According to historian L.D. Stillwell, Vermont alone experienced a drop of 10,000 to 15,000 people, erasing seven previous years of population growth. Among those who left Vermont were the family of Joseph Smith Senior, who moved from Sharon, Vermont, to Palmyra, New York. This move precipitated a series of events which culminated in the publication of the Book of Mormon and the founding of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This occurred after the end of the War of 1812. 2 Nephi 6:15 And they that believe not in him shall be destroyed, both by pestilence, and by famine. And they shall know that the Lord is God, the Holy One of Israel. ‘Repent, repent ye, Hear the words of that God who made you, by the voice of famine.’ Jesus Christ in Doctrine and Covenants section 43.

1826 London. Mr. Canning received the royal command to form an administration, among Tories and Whigs. Canning died 16 months later. Tytler’s Britannica.

1829 Joseph Smith the Prophet at Harmony, Pennsylvania. (Clan Mack of Inverness, Malcolm King of Scots). Doctrine and Covenants 7. Sometime in April. ‘Inquired through the Urim and Thummim as to whether John, the beloved disciple, tarried in the flesh or had died.’

1865 Appomattox Court House Virginia. Easter Week. 30,000 paroles are printed for the retiring Confederate army, surrendered the previous day. It took 3 days to make the lists and stack the rifles of the troops.

1872 Arbor day celebrated in Nebraska, with a million trees planted. This lead to The Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies (F&ES) as one of the graduate professional schools of Yale University. Founded to train foresters.

Coat of arms includes Cross of Saint Andrew (white for Scots since 1385, red for St. Patrick). 1900 — oldest continuously operating forestry/environmental school in the United States, and also the oldest post-graduate forestry program in the US.

1896 “The Star-Spangled Banner” was played by the Navy at the inaugural modern Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 1896. The United States wins 11 Guld Au, 7 Silver Ag and 2 Bronze Cu Sn medals, a total of 20. Within 40 years the song becomes the American national anthem, and has been played at every Olympics since. A line is adapted for coins and currency ‘in God we Trust’.

1912 – The Titanic leaves port in Southampton, England for her first and only voyage. Alexander Carlisle, was the shipyard’s chief draughtsman and general manager;

Construction was facilitated by an enormous gantry built by Sir William Arrol & Co., a Scottish firm responsible for the building of the Forth Bridge and London’s Tower Bridge. The Arrol Gantry stood 228 feet (69 m) high, was 270 feet (82 m) wide and 840 feet (260 m) long, and weighed more than 6,000 tons. It accommodated a number of mobile cranes. A separate floating crane, capable of lifting 200 tons, was brought in from Germany. Passenger Sir Cosmo Duff Gordon and his wife, couturière Lucy (Lady Duff-Gordon), and Lucy Noël Martha Leslie, The Right Honourable The Countess of Rothes (25 December 1878 – 12 September 1956) was the wife of the 19th Earl of Rothes, whom she married on 19 April 1900.

1986 about this time of year. The Rogers Challenger Commission, appointed to investigate the space shuttle disaster some months before, is advised that in order to obtain funding for the Space Shuttle, in the late 1970’s NASA’s management advised Congress that the Shuttle operations would be 99.999999 percent risk free. Or, the odds of a catastrophe were estimated at one in eleven million. Eleven is a prime number and prime numbers are always preferred as having authenticity value. Traveling at speeds as great as Mach 25 to Mach 30, or five times the muzzle velocity of a bullet, that converted to launching, operating, and landing the Shuttle every day for 30,000 years without a loss. NASA’s successful moon landings, beginning in 1969, made the prediction reasonable to leaders and members of the Congress, House and Senate. The Space Shuttle program followed the Apollo Moon program, to keep NASA’s scientific research together and going.
