AG’s Plan To Fight Terrorism Translates Loosely To ‘Hug It Out’

Attorney General Loretta Lynch proclaimed Tuesday the most effective response to terror is “compassion” and “love.”
Lynch tried to reassure the LGBT community in the wake of the terror attack at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, last week, the Miami Herald reports. Omar Mateen, a 29-year-old who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and other terror groups, killed 49 people and injured 53 others.
“To the LGBT community — we stand with you,” Lynch said. “The good in this world far outweighs the evil. Our common humanity transcends our differences, and our most effective response to terror is compassion, it’s unity and it’s love. We stand with you today because we grieve together, and long after the cameras are gone will continue to stand with you as we grow together in commitment and solidarity and in equality.”
At the event, Lynch said it’s unclear if an investigation will ever boil Mateen’s act of terror down to a single motive. To make matters worse, the Obama administration has even been accused of obfuscating the truth about Mateen’s call to 911, in which he pledged allegiance to ISIS. The Obama administration only released the full transcript after the public became apoplectic in response to the cover-up of any mention of Islamic terrorism.
The Department of Justice, Lynch added, will send over $1 million to Florida to help pay for emergency expenses. Just recently, Florida Governor Rick Scott asked the Obama administration to make an Emergency Declaration, so as to release $5 million in aid for victims. The Obama administration denied that request, infuriating Scott.
“It is incredibly disappointing that the Obama Administration denied our request for an Emergency Declaration,” Scott said in a press release. “Last week, a terrorist killed 49 people, and wounded many others, which was the deadliest shooting in U.S. history. It is unthinkable that President Obama does not define this as an emergency. We are committing every state resource possible to help the victims and the community heal and we expect the same from the federal government.”
