(TRIGGER WARNING) – I want to apologize to all my good friends who have different beliefs. Maybe you’ll have a better understanding of my motivations after reading this. At this point, I have to wonder why I’m so compelled to write like this. When it comes, it just pours out. More than anything, I’m feeling that one’s judgment is no better than the information it is based upon. A person may still judge wrongly when presented the truth, but they had the opportunity to be right. If one is given no news or biased, sloppy, distorted or incomplete information, filled with deliberate propaganda and falsehoods, then their whole reasoning process is corrupted or completely destroyed. Articles like this stand as a witness that people who read it had the opportunity to be educated or chose to remain ignorant. The gap between the two seems to have widened. Tuesday’s vote will be like the Phoenix rising or the final nail in Utah’s coffin. – Ed

We’re able to vote in peace this week because of the Constitution and the government it created.

The Lord Himself said that  I established the Constitution of this land “by the hands of wise men whom I raised up unto this very purpose” and that “it belongs to all mankind.”

In (D&C 98:6). The Lord said, “Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land”

President Ezra Taft Benson, in his article “The Divine Constitution”, stated “The Lord said that “he holds men accountable for their acts in relation” to governments “both in making laws and administering them” (D&C 134:1).

Read that last line again, carefully. Not only will the people we elect be held accountable, we, who voted and campaigned for them, are part of the process and will also be held accountable.

Our government is a direct extension of us and reflects our desires and will. We get the government we want. We get the government we deserve. We get a “government of the people, by the people, for the people” (Abe Lincoln)

That fact alone, brings our vote, and the people we elect, into a proper perspective.

Do you want to be held responsible for adding to the evil perpetuated by our government and happening in our country today?

President David O. McKay stated “Let me assure you, Brethren, that someday you will have a personal Priesthood interview with the Savior, Himself…  He will ask you to account for your earthly responsibilities.”

“He will ask for an accountability on what you have done to contribute in a positive manner to your community, state, country, and the world.”

In other words: What have you done to protect the freedom I gave you?

What will He say when you tell Him that you voted for the lesser of two evils? Or, that you spent hours each week making memes and Incessantly commenting on social media while standing in your own light surrounded by people who adore and “like” you?

The quality of our choices is dependent upon knowing what is true.  In John 8, it says “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”

We don’t live in an honest system. Truth is hard to find these days. We are lied to constantly, mostly by omission or by spin. Politicians have the legal right to lie as much as they want.

In Utah, their most common lie is “I’m a Conservative.” By claiming that, they are mocking their constituents as idiots. Any voter who is truly informed and capable of connecting two brain cells together knows the difference between a socialist, a RINO, and a conservative.

I think the truth may terrify people that there is actually something we can do and we might actually need to do something.

We’ve been taught to idolize our political system as Celestial in a lot of ways, and it’s not. It’s Telestial in organization, and definitely not the kind of system that God would have.

Here in Utah, claiming to be God’s people, where one would think that everybody would gravitate toward a high level of honesty, we don’t. We run our system of politics in the manner of Nehor in the Book of Mormon.

We elect a legislature, filled with Latter Day Saints, who don’t do anything impressive

We like to send our kids to government schools that have made the preaching of Christ illegal except from a historical perspective, which contradicts the very heart of our religion that Christ, the light of Christ, is in all things, of all things, and through all things, the law by which all things are governed.

Do you believe that everything you pay for today is moral? If not, why are you required by a system to pay for things that by the Book of Mormon’s definition, are anti-Christ on its face?

We don’t need to find political saviors. We need to find the internal courage that can only come through knowledge, and by guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Do we know that the men & women asking for your support have the gift of prophecy & revelation. If they do, then you can know that they are in the spirit of liberty, which is the Spirit of Christ.

Testing Our Politicians

I would put our local and state politicians to a test,… ask yourself, if you could do what Lot did and find just nine other righteous people, and ask yourself what was the standard of righteousness that Lot was looking for, that the Lord was looking for?

In (D&C 98:10), the Lord demands that “Honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil”

In 3 Nephi, Mormon said that it was in the times of righteousness that the people would select for their captains men who had the gift of prophecy & revelation. He qualifies that the only times they do that is during times of righteousness.

How many of our elected officials have that gift? How many candidates running for office right now, and asking for your vote, have that gift?

I think that Mosiah, and the story of Abinadi, is for the state of Utah, in our day today, begging us as a people to stop following the King Noah’s of the world and electing worthless priests to our political bodies.

Many of us are very comfortable in a Telestial kingdom right now. And as long as we continue to rely on our Telestial political system & persons, then we just can’t imagine living life any differently.

Our love for liberty must continue to grow as it did in the lives of our founding fathers and in the lives of our pioneer ancestors.

Pres Benson said “We must become accurately informed and then let others know how we feel.”

The problems we face are not a democrat, republican, or liberal, conservative problem, it’s a knowledge problem. It’s a wisdom and virtue problem. The decisions we make today will have eternal consequences.

The Prophet Joseph Smith said: “It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound.”

This year, Utah is in the unique position of righting itself based on conservative and Constitutional principles and breaking the stranglehold of the establishment  that have held onto power for 30 years.

The leaders of the UTGOP (the delegates) voted and made their decision last March & April. The winners, Phil Lyman and Trent Staggs, knocked out Gov. Cox and Rep. John Curtis, who both  managed to slip through the back door into a primary by taking the signature route and declaring themselves a Republican. The company that gathered the signatures is under a criminal investigation and Cox is refusing an audit. His running mate, Deidre Henderson oversees UT elections. Nothing to see here?

Colby Jenkins did not reach the 60% threshold (56.85%) against Celeste Maloy (43.15%) and is in the primary. Locally, in WashCo, Don Ipson was forced to rely on delegates he dismissed as irrelevant because he couldn’t get the 2,000 signatures necessary from his constituents to force a primary. Ipson was defeated by Chad Bennion 58% to 42%, but that was still enough to continue on.

Christianity Shaped Our Nation

The Founding Fathers’ belief and trust in God is affirmed in the Declaration of Independence with the words “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Where did this vision for the dignity and freedom of all human beings come from? It came from the Bible, from Jerusalem.

The bible gave our founders knowledge of our Creator, that All Men, are individually important. It taught them the sacredness of human life. It was the Bible that ingrained in them the emancipatory theme of “liberty for the captives” that runs through the whole of redemptive history.

And it was the Bible that taught them that the ultimate pursuit of an individual’s life is to find joy, the Pursuit of Happiness.

Christianity shaped this nation. The first American Constitution was actually a printed sermon that was read from a church pulpit in Connecticut.

The entire concept of American Liberty comes from a minister from Virginia who was also the founder of our Bill of Rights.

The formation of our government was necessary for the restoration of the gospel. Two thousand years ago, when Christ visited this land, He said that America, the land of liberty, was to be the Lord’s latter-day base of operations for His restored church.

Liberty is the power, given by the Lord, to choose between good and evil. It is an inalienable right of all of God’s children and is one of our greatest heritages.

America was formed as a Constitutional republic to insure the people that they can have as much liberty as they wanted and can handle.

God gave it to man in the Garden of Eden. It is eternal in nature and existed in pre-earth life. Liberty is the foundational principle in the Plan of Salvation and is essential for the exercise of our free agency

But, Free agency is not in itself the perfect liberty we seek, and it doesn’t necessarily lead to freedom.

By exercising their agency, more people have come to political, economic, and personal bondage than to liberty.

Take the Nephites, for example,

While living under a government that provided for the freest exercise of agency, those who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good.

They chose wicked men to rule them to replace righteous men who had protected and preserved those liberties.

The Jaredites freely chose a king that led them directly to their captivity

The people of Israel rejected the government established by God, for a king, who made servants of their sons and daughters.

And the Egyptians, instead of exercising their agency to provide for themselves against a day of need, depended upon the government and sold themselves into slavery, that they might eat.

Free agency can be misused, but it is an eternal principle, and will endure.

Making correct choices widens our agency and leads to perfect liberty. We may obtain freedom of the soul while at the same time being denied political, economic, and personal liberty.

Freedom obtained by obedience to the law of Christ—is freedom of the soul, the highest form of liberty.

The essential element of Liberty is the ability to self-govern.

The more liberty you have, the less government you need. More government always means less liberty.

Paul gives us a proper perspective:

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12).

The founders understood that the government had no business in the church or influencing the church in any way.

It has never meant that God has no business in public discussion or that someone’s faith has no position in the political arena.

We have allowed this new 20th century definition to dictate what our children are taught in schools and what many religions teach from the pulpit, out of fear, or sheer idolatry, and this has silenced the most powerful and effective control on tyrannical governments throughout history,  which is the educated, activated body of Christ. (Martial Law – 2020)

Samual Adams said “when the people have become universally ignorant and debauched in their manners, they will sink under their own weight.”

You don’t bring about the protection of the church by the bill of rights, or the constitution by politics, you do it by being grounded in eternal principles and practicing true theology.

We start by owning our religion and living like it.

There is a point when our testimonies come due. When the Lord unsheathes his sword, it’s over.

Samuel, the Lamanite prophet,“But behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated the day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your destruction is made sure.”

So, it is a wake up call that the systems we’ve been taught to adore are imperfect in substantial ways. The test right now is learning to focus on the things that matter most vs all the “noise”.

We need to prepare for what’s coming

We are going to see things for which we have no box to place them in, that will shatter many people’s faith, because it’s not on their radar, they’re not prepared for it.

Our nation had so many reasons to have failed in its beginning. We were faced with insurmountable odds and time after time a miracle was provided by the hand of a loving God.

We are now facing what appears to be a major change in our nation that will decimate freedom. We are powerless to do anything. In history, that is when the miracle occurs.

There is a danger of the fall of America, but I think we still have a chance to recover, but we need more blessings than we currently deserve.

We may fall as a nation, as a government, but we, the people, do not need to fall.  We’ll be okay, if we follow the prophet. America will go forward if America repents.

There is some thought pertaining to the 2nd coming, that strongly advocates the idea that the constitution will be saved by setting up a loosely knit constitutional republic of sorts, in Zion, but there’s nothing in scripture that collaborates that.

Zion will be a Kingdom, with a King.

President Nelson said that we were instructed about everything we needed to know during the course of our lives. He said that we had front row seats to what the prophets saw.

We will see greater miracles than the world has ever known. We need to be looking for the miracles that will come. God has told us in our day he will fight our battles.

We’re not going to be just sitting here through those miracles. It’s going to be through our faith that those miracles are brought into being, that I have the faith to call down a miracle and God will be there for us.

Satan knows that we are Plan A., the warriors and heroes that the Lord chose to bring His whole plan to a close.

We are human, we have weaknesses, but we have the power to cast him away.

We have the power to crush the destroyer’s head, just by identifying the source of the discouragement, the doubt.

We are bombarded with revelations every day. The Lord wants to talk with us. Revelation is a process in which we will eventually see God. We just need to learn the dialect, the language of the Lord. It is a life force.

We must humble ourselves. We must repent.

The Lord is not waiting for the world to become more wicked.

He’s waiting for his people to be a Zion people and ready to receive Him. If we could become humbled to that point, then that will be our lot.

The Nephites were made to feel that the burdens on their backs were made light, and they rejoiced in their circumstances of being in complete bondage to their enemies.

I just want to be worthy, to do my part, and be ready for that. We will see the miracles of the loaves and fishes. We will not wait for the government to take care of us. We will be taken care of by the Lord, if we are worthy.

My honor and good sense require me to continue to fight for liberty, for the Lord, for my brothers and sisters, and all carbon-life forms, and that’s what I’ll do.

“And now,” warned Moroni, “we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fullness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity” (Ether 2:9).
