On Monday, Donald Trump said his children, Eric and Ivanka “feel very, very guilty” they will be unable to vote for him in New York’s primary because they missed the state’s voter registration deadline.

Trump said:

They had a long time to register and they were unaware of the rules so they feel very, very guilty, they feel very guilty, but it’s fine, I understand, that. I think have to register a year in advance so Eric and Ivanka I guess won’t be voting.

New York’s primary is April 19. Voters had until October 9, 2015 to change their party enrollment in order to participate in the state’s 2016 presidential primaries according to the New York State Board of Elections.

The mishap is ironic because Ivanka Trump has been making videos urging supporters to vote. She even made a video for Iowans that explained to them how to find their caucus sites and how the process works.

Trump’s son, Donald Jr. is a registered Republican according to state records and his youngest daughter, Tiffany, is registered as a Republican in Philadelphia where she is a student at the University of Pennsylvania according to Pennsylvania state department records.
