Even before Ted Cruz started running for president, I adored his dad, Rafael. This man GETS America. He understands what the founding principles of America mean to the rest of the world – particularly in places where murderous dictators rule the day and the regular people have no choice or say in how their lives are run. Sure, we have plenty of progressive liberal trolls trying to ruin that, but at the end of the day America is still the most hopeful and free country on the face of the planet. And it’s our job to keep it that way.

Which is why I LOVE what Rafael Cruz had to say about the current state of the election. And it’s not necessarily in aid of his son’s campaign – I get the feeling that no matter who was running against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, as long as that person was a strong conservative, Rafael would be saying this anyway.

First he talked about polls and such – which everyone and their dog has covered ad nauseum and will continue to do so until November. And even then, there’s always some random group of percentages to cover about approval ratings and whatnot –

“It’s very simple. All they have to do is look at the polls,” he said in response to those who think Trump might be a stronger candidate against Hillary Clinton. “Poll after poll after poll after poll after poll shows that if Donald Trump is the Republican nominee, he loses to Hillary Clinton by double digits. Donald Trump cannot beat Hillary Clinton. That would be the dream ticket for Hillary Clinton because all the polls show that Donald Trump would lose and would lose by a landslide.”
