According to the band’s tour manager, Michael Cohl, during the band’s 1989 Steel Wheels tour, The Stones were set to play a gig at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. Trump sponsored the event and a pay-per-view showing it, but was only allowed to after he agreed not to take part in any promotions. In fact, the group apparently disliked Trump so much that they forbade him from even seeing the concert.

Trump wound up breaking his word and giving a press conference, in the band’s press room no less. Cohl asked the mogul to leave and he did, but came back five minutes later. When Cohl told the band what was going on, Keith took out his knife, slammed it on the table and said, “What the hell do I have you for? Do I have to go over there and fire him myself? One of us is leaving the building – either him or us.”
