It’s official. Donald Trump is the 45th President of the United States. Liberals are still trying to cope. They’re suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Listen– I empathize with them to a certain extent. It sucks when your party completely fails you. It happened to conservatives in 2008 and 2012.  The only difference? We didn’t scream at our opposition and smear the other half of the country, calling them bigoted, racist, sexist, homophobic, toothless jackholes. We didn’t degrade Michelle Obama by calling her a b*tch, whore, slut, c*nt or hooker. We didn’t stage fake hate crimes. We didn’t incite violence or encourage disruption. We didn’t burn American flags, block traffic and shout “F*ck Barack Obama!” We didn’t boycott magazines for DARING to feature Obama on the cover. We didn’t plan to throw acid bombs or encourage people to disrupt the inauguration day festivities. We didn’t set fire to Obama apparel and assault police officers out of grief. We didn’t threaten Obama with death by cartel. We didn’t send death threats to Obama’s inaugural performers. We didn’t harass Obama’s daughters. We didn’t knit ridiculous p*ssy hats in protest. We didn’t take our shirts off, run into museums and grope Obama wax figures.

Nope.

I remember when we lost in 2012. I was a sophomore in college. I went to school the next morning, and I didn’t see any demonstrators. No signs. No dramatic reenactments of discrimination. No one blocked pathways to buildings. No one burned American flags. No one staged mass walk-outs or shouted at Obama supporters. There were no safe spaces for the Romney supporters. Liberals won and felt on top of the world. (You should know, I went to a private liberal arts college. So if any of these things would’ve happened, it would’ve been at my school.) Conservatives lost. We were bummed out and determined to fight for our cause even harder through writing and conversation– not burning American flags and calling for the daughters of our ideological opponents to be raped.

I understand the frustration, liberals. Your party completely screwed you over. We were mad for you. Your party’s leaders didn’t respect you, and they still don’t. Their refusal to undergo a little self-evaluation should make you mad. Yet here you are, taking your anger out on us? Police officers? Innocent business owners? Americans with Trump bumper stickers on their cars? You ignorantly tell us we’re racists who hate women and children and the elderly and disabled and whatever other group the media tells you is disenfranchised. It’s not true. Your president isn’t any of those things, nor are the 61 million + who voted for him.

Listen, liberals. We can find common ground. Believe it or not, we have more in common than you think. This isn’t a call to hold hands and sing kumbaya, but if you could stop shouting “Raaaaaaacist America!” and “Not my president!” for more than five minutes, we could talk. Let’s do that. You might be surprised to find out that we want some of the same things.

The economy: We all want a robust economy. A whopping 95 million Americans not participating in the workforce is unacceptable. I think we can all agree on that, right? The labor force participation rate hasn’t been this low since the ’70s. Real GDP grew an abysmal 1.1% in the second quarter last year. That’s unacceptable. We can all rally behind the new leadership’s pro-growth policies. Trump’s pro-growth tax plan will benefit all of us. Not just the “wealthy.” That’s a fallacy.  It simplifies the tax code and condenses the brackets.  We should want to make domestic investment attractive. That’s good for all of us. We should want to keep more of our own money. That’s good for all of us. We should want businesses to exceed and expand. That’s good for all of us. We should want jobs to come back home. That benefits all of us. … read more here
