Prosecutors Won’t Seek Death Penalty For Husband Accused Of Wife’s Murder
The death penalty is off the table for a Saint George man accused of killing his wife on a cruise in Alaska earlier this year. Federal prosecutors announced this week they won’t be seeking the death penalty against Kenneth Manzanares, who is accused of killing his wife, Kristy, in their cabin aboard the ship outside of Juneau. Manzanares is scheduled for an April trial after previously pleading not guilty to first degree murder. Investigators have not released a motive for the murder but say Manzanares reportedly told a family member “she would not stop laughing at me”.
