Police Open Fire On Man Who Shot Police Dog.
A suspect remains hospitalized today after officers opened fire on him following his reported shooting of a Washington County Sheriff’s Office K-Nine. Investigators say the man carjacked someone at a Saint George gas station late Tuesday and the owner of the car told them an A-R-15 assault rifle was inside. Investigators say the man then ditched that truck and took another, leading authorities on a chase they called off due to the danger. The suspect then crashed the vehicle in Santa Clara early yesterday and authorities tried for half an hour to get him to come out once they arrived on scene. After he opened the door, K-Nine Tess jumped in and the suspect shot her. Officers then opened fire, hitting the suspect multiple times. Tess was treated and released from a Las Vegas clinic; the suspect remains hospitalized in undisclosed condition. He has not been publicly identified.
