President Trump has “gone full racist,” HuffPost wrote on the front of its website Friday.

The headline on the front page of the website referred to a story with another headline: “Trump Says Europe is ‘Losing’ It Culture Because of Immigration.”

The story referenced remarks the president made in an interview with The Sun, a British tabloid, in which the president was recorded “saying an influx of immigrants fleeing violence and seeking asylum has caused the continent to lose its culture and ‘changed the fabric of Europe.’”

The problem is people seeking respite from war, the Huffington Post noted. “In recent years, some 1.8 million people migrated to Europe, many seeking asylum, setting off a continent-wide crisis and a wave of xenophobia and populism.”

The story took care to note on multiple occasions in the story the protestors who had turned out to express their opposition.

“Trump arrived in the United Kingdom on Thursday amid widespread protests over his visit with May and on the heels of a frosty NATO summit,” HuffPo wrote. “Picketers gathered outside the U.S. ambassador’s residence, where Donald and Melania Trump were staying for the night, and outside Blenheim Palace, where they dined with May. A massive march is planned for Friday in London.”

“Many have gathered to protest Trump’s policies on immigration, including his administration’s travel ban on citizens from several Muslim-majority nations and America’szero-tolerancee policy on unauthorized immigration that led thousands of migrant children to be separated from their parents.”

“In his interview Donald Trump doubled down on his opposition to immigration regardless of legality, saying that asylum seekers and migrants strip countries of their culture and implying that immigrants are linked to an increase in terrorism.”

Trump was quoted before he departed Washington for Brussels as saying his message was not to come to the U.S. illegally but to come legally – a distinction HuffPost seems not to have been aware of.

It returned to the protests a third time when dealing with Trump’s comments on London Mayor Sadiq Khan, “with whom the president has had a long-running feud.”

Khan “has supported the protests against Trump, even approving a giant balloon depicting the U.S. leader as an orange baby, saying Londoners are ‘resolutely opposed to the politics of despair.’”

NBC News chimed in with a piece headlined “Worst fears realized in Trump’s overseas trip – and it’s not over yet,” that said not only did “NATO’s worst fears about President Trump come true,” but “The British government’s worst fears about Trump also came true.”

“And it’s very likely that, come Monday, the West’s worst fears about Trump’s summit with Russia’s Vladimir Putin will come true, too.”

It started in Brussels, NBC reported.

“On Thursday, we described Trump as a wrecking ball. But it’s even more than that – in addition to knocking over institutions and policies, the president has sowed chaos and confusion. And there doesn’t appear to be any end game. {After all, stabbing host British Prime Minister May in the back either makes her stronger or empowers Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn, and neither option helps Trump or the alt-right groups he seems to want to promote.)”

The piece teased another NBC News story, relying solely on anonymous sources, that said, “Hours after President Trump departed NATO headquarters Thursday, U.S. military leaders embarked on a full-scale ‘damage control’ operation with calls to their counterparts across Europe to reassure them that American will abide by its defense commitments in the region.

“The overall message from senior military officials in a series of phone calls to members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization has been that U.S. military bases in their countries will remain open and American troop levels in the region will not be reduced.”
