DSU Campus Art & Music Events This Week
The DSU Art Department presents its Fall Senior Exhibit from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday–Friday through Dec. 9 (excluding holidays) in DSU’s North Plaza Gallery. The free exhibit will feature senior art students Danica Hansen, Elizabeth Esplin, Kaitlan Morris, Samantha Davis and Spencer Mathisen.
Dixie State’s Sears Art Museum Gallery hosts “Lindstrom,” an exhibition of the art of Gaell Lindstrom, a Utah State University art professor and award-winning artist. The show will feature photography, paintings, ceramics and drawings created during a career that spanned seven decades. The exhibit will be on display Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., now through Jan. 13, 2017, but closed during school holidays. Admission is free. An opening reception will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2.
The DSU Music Department presents a Piano Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in DSU’s Eccles Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The DSU Art Department presents its Fall Ceramics Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 in DSU’s North Plaza Gallery. Admission is free.
DSU’s Institute of Politics and Public Affairs hosts its bi-monthly forum Pizza & Politics from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, in the lounge of the Kenneth N. Gardner Student Center. The topic this session is Emotion vs. Reason.
The DSU Music Department presents Chamber Music: Flute, Guitar, Strings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, in DSU’s Eccles Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The DSU Music Department presents the Symphony Band Concert at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 2, in DSU’s Eccles Concert Hall. Tickets are $5.
The DSU Music Department presents Minute Music at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in DSU’s Eccles Concert Hall. Admission is free.
The President’s Colleagues of Dixie State University will meet at noon on Monday, Dec. 5, in Lecture Hall 156 of the Taylor Health Science Center, 1526 E. Medical Center Drive. Dr. Allen E. Bergin will present “How Religion May Help or Hurt Mental Health.”
The Dixie State Student Dance Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. each evening on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5 and 6, in DSU’s Eccles Mainstage. Tickets are $12.
Dixie Forum, a weekly lecture series that introduces the St. George and DSU communities to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews, will host Canadian Brass from noon to 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Browning Resource Center for the last lecture of the Fall 2016 semester. The ensemble will present a lecture-demonstration highlighting their music and musical lives prior to their Celebrity Concert Series performance the same evening at 7:30 in the M.K. Cox Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $25.
A DSU Jazz Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in DSU’s Eccles Mainstage Theater. Tickets are $5.
A DSU Percussion Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, in DSU’s Eccles Mainstage Theater. Tickets are $5.
The DSU Chamber Singers, Concert Choir and Women’s Choir perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, in DSU’s Eccles Concert Hall. Tickets are $5.
The Dixie State Symphony Orchestra performs at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, in DSU’s Cox Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5.
DSU’s Celebrity Concert Series hosts Ryan Shupe at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, in DSU’s Cox Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $25.
