Richard Stewart, the mayor of Coquitlam, British Columbia, claims he was trying to prove a point about sexism when he wore the same suit every single day for 15 months. Stewart believed most people never notice what men wear, while the scrutiny of clothing worn by women could be considered a form a gender bias.

In an interview with the CBC, Stewart added more detail on his reasoning: “I’ve got daughters, and when I see the inadvertent barriers that society puts in place about women and their career advancement, barriers that don’t exist for men, I kind of want to draw attention to them.”
