Reporters, Investigative Journalists & Commentary

Interns, Reporters, Investigative Journalists and Free-Lance writers wanted for a new Utah statewide, online news publishing platform that will be launching in September, 2015.

Ideal candidates will be self-starters, motivated and familiar with the St George and/or Utah community and capable of finding and writing clear, meaningful and locally-valued stories. The right candidate is interested in being involved in a variety of functions from covering government and breaking news; to writing features, headlines and ensuring our website is fresh. This position also includes writing general assignment stories, and it affords time for in-depth features and enterprise work.

ABOUT YOU: You must have the ability to dig behind meetings and agendas to find the back story to issues. You know the ins and outs of public records requests, consider FOI and open records laws your ally and can tease out trends in data and events. You always have a working list of stories as long as your arm waiting to be pounced on. You desire to write impactful hard-news journalism, and you¹re ready to step away from feeding the beast to explore and expose issues that can change the course of a community. You should be prepared to be an ambassador of not just the paper, but of solid journalism skills and the craft of modern reporting.

This is a dream job for a journalist ready to dive into deep, dot-connecting coverage. Multimedia experience is a plus, including shooting and editing photos and videos
