A quarter of US abortion clinics have closed over last five years
A quarter of US abortion clinics have shut down over the last five years, a report has revealed.
The report, by Esmé Deprez, said 162 abortion clinics had closed since 2011, affecting access for 30.5million women.
Only 21 clinics have opened over the same time period. The single greatest factor was new legislation.
It has meant a woman’s chances of accessing abortion services are now more dependent than ever on where they live and how much money they can pay for travel.
