Pennsylvania schools are wasting millions of dollars on school buses.
COSTLY RIDES: Pennsylvania schools waste more than $54 million a year on transportation services, according to audits conducted by the state auditor general.Districts are not obligated to bid out transportation services and, according to the state’s fiscal watchdog, refusing to seek competitive proposals means they’re flushing more than $54 million of taxpayer money down the drain each year.“I want to put more education dollars in our classrooms, not our school buses,” state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale said.
